For RainbowReflect, RE: John Edward
From Wikipedia: "Skeptics say that Edward's techniques are identical with the technique of cold reading, one of the ways many demonstrated hoax psychics fool their clients and audiences. The show is accused by its critics of being heavily edited, with a half-hour show taking up to six hours to tape, in which failed attempts are removed. It is also alleged that Edwards' staff collect information on people before a reading takes place - a technique termed "hot reading". The show's producers deny this charge. This sort of back-and-forth is characteristic of the entire field, which arouses strong emotions."

for example, it looks like he pulls people out of the audience at random, but in reality he'll start off by asking very generic terms (cold reading), like "i'm getting a 'p' name" by speaking fast, and picking up clues he can be elusive. AND all the editing that's done after the taping can really throw you for a loop. some people have testified that JE has even gone so far as to 'cut' and 'paste' sentences of what people say to a more agreeable struture that adds to his credibility.
or, hot reading, tehre are many testimonials that suggest that audience members are secretly recorded prior to the show. one testimonial stated that the audience members were hustled into the studio and left there for a good hour or two before Johnny e showed up.
actually a good explanation is the south park episode on john edward "the biggest douche in the universe"

of course, these are all testimonials and john ed and co aren't going to admit to shit, so take it all with a grain of salt.

but the thing that gets me is this. here are all these people who believe in you because they want comfort and knowledge about the people that have passed away in their lives. these people are very suggestible, and very shaken up, though you could say he gives these people meaning and hope...it's not that to me, it's false hope and false dreams that aren't hooked into reality.

THAT, and he showed up on fox news during the schiavo fiasco to state he could feel her aura and that "she wanted to live"
just another mistake out of many this douche has committed.

im sorry i'm a rambler, but check out the SP episode if you want a good laugh. or check out "cold reading" techniques.
