5. a toaster is not a pipe
it is more of a square shaped mini-oven that quickly heats bread into a golden brown delicious toast

17. You only THINK your's is slow . . .
Check out this baby

The "Toast-o-lator" runs the bread through on a conveyor belt. The little window is so you can watch it creeeeeeep along.

Put in a piece on the belt in the morning and it's ready by lunch!

Very Zen, though -- I honestly believe my mom used it to teach us patience.

21. Depends on your definition!
Weighs about 3-4 lbs (estimating, here). Very slim line, so it would tuck into your backpack easily.
You'd need a long extension cord, though.

25. Well, this one is definitely durable . . .
perhaps one of those brand-spankin' new mini-nuclear reactor 'batteries' would solve the portability problem?

Alternately -- a long handled fork over a heat source. Come to think of it, a long handled fork and the mini nuclear reactor. Not just premium toasted bread, but GLOW IN THE DARK premium toasted bread!!
WooHOO!

22. I bought that buick sized chrome one for my parents from...
Williams -Sonoma 5 years ago. They would go through a Target type toaster in a month. They could not grasp the concept of NOT forcing the handle up when they felt it was time. I swear I went through six toasters.

So I saw this mechanical monster there, and it has NO electronic parts, except for a timer that is just like an egg timer. You push up and down on this gargantuan lever, and the toast can be inspected from time to time as my parents like to do.

It still works fine, and has no problems...but that toaster thing with elderly parents and when they latch on to an issue...

24. I know the feeling
that is because with all the sub-standard toasters out there, one feels they have to constantly have to check the toast to make sure it doesn't burn.
In my opinion, the first thing i look for in a toaster is trust. If I can set it to light-medium and come out with perfect bread without worrying, then I am sold.
