Three years after signing up I can finally access the DU

I registered with the DU in 2002, but my only access to the internet was at work. After several days of reading the DU and making about four posts, I tried to log on, but I could not. My employer installed a filter of some type which prevented us from doing anything on the computers which was not work related. When I tried to access the DU I was given the message: "Forbidden Web Site" (echo sounds needed here). Finally I have my own computer and can access the DU. :bounce:

Now all I have to do is figure out why you guys were labeled "forbidden," it piques my curiosity. Any explanations?

3. You might be using the same filtering that my company uses.

Until last summer, DU was not "forbidden" then it suddenly was. Other sites, such as FR are still not forbidden (which actually contain hateul material), so one wonders if it's because of the democratic nature of this site, or just because there's a lot more traffic to and from this site, setting off bells that employees were spending too much time here. I prefer to think it's the latter, but you never know.

My company's filter lists DU as a Political and Chat site... nothing more sinister than that. :shrug:

However, of the 7.5 hours we are required to be present we only have to work 4.5. If one is efficient enough (it is a salaried position) then there is at least 90 minutes when one has enough time to do as one wants (plus our lunch break); and we are not supervised all that stringently

BTW, Rush Limbaugh and the Free Republic are still not censored by this software. Go figure...

20. It's forbidden at one of my jobs too.

Anything that is not party line is forbidden. I found this out when I was able to log in to FR and was blocked from DU. My job blocks specific sites for some reason.
