27. A path to hell would be awesome!
But it's probably some underground nuclear shelter or something. I think that some of that area was a military base and that latch was the passageway to a hidden govt lab or something of that nature. I keep thinking of the nuclear testings done in the Bikini Islands in after WWII.

67. It's not purgatory
"Lost" co-creator J.J. Abrams appreciates the fans' creativity.

"The purgatory one is a great one, I love that theory — but it isn't what it is. I'd be frustrated if that were the answer I have to say," he said.

So the survivors are not in purgatory and it's not a dream. And producers say there is a logical explanation for everything.

49. Jack seat on the plane was 42, and the woman he met in the bar's
seat was 23...or the other way around.

Also- at the toy store in which Locke worked, regulation footballs were in aisle 8, and Nerf footballs were in aisle 15.

Another Easter Egg: did you see the jersey numbers on that girls' soccer team, or whatever it was? They were wearing the numbers.

65. DVD's with a commentary track
Edited on Wed May-25-05 10:14 PM by Wheaty
I'd love a DVD with a commentary track. Or like the Battlestar Gallactica on SciFi where the director does a "pod cast" you can download and sync up with the TV airing to get commentary. That'd be really nice. Even if it just gave things to pay close attention too while watching.

71. Exactly.
I have a child at home who is not allowed to watch this show. She still sneaks in constantly to try to catch a glimpse of it so I miss some good clues by having to get her out of the room.
Truthfully, I am one of those people who don't need to have any part pointed out to me. I can usually catch the significance if I can get the chance to sit and watch for five uninterrupted minutes.

76. Well I usually catch the clues too, but...
...But I tend to second guess myself thinking I'm over analyzing the minutia. So a little DVD commentary to point out the main clues would help guide me. Even if the commentary is only for a few episode so I can spot a pattern of important clues in the show.

85. I look at shows like this and figure that everything is
significant. I was really into Twin Peaks years ago. Everything they said and showed was significant. Plus, I am a spoiler when it comes to Survivor. We look at everything-from tv commercials to the opening segment to symbolism in the show-to figure out the final four. I watch that show because I consider it to be my own personal mystery. The clues are there you just have to find and decipher them. Maybe I just need to download the eppies and rewatch them that way.

75. I watched the very first one, thinking that it might be a remake
of an old 70's show. I was so disappointed. I wasn't interested in a crappy monster movie plot. When I watched it a few weeks later I realized what it really was: a good old fashioned mystery/thriller. I got hooked in the same way that I was hooked on Twin Peaks. Both are shows where you have to catch every detail to figure out exactly what is happening. And both throw crap at you out of no where.
Damn. Now I really miss the first season of Twin Peaks.

45. Walt has special powers
I think maybe that's why the others want him. His stepfather knew it and tried to warn Michael. There was the incident before Walt's mother died when hew was looking at the book about birds and noone was paying attention to him, and then the exact bird he was looking at flies into the window and falls dead. Also remember that Walt was reading Hurley's comic book with the polar bear and then mysteriously a polar bear appears on the tropical island.

He was just pissed off at Danielle and that's the conclusion he came to.

But nothing close to confirmation.

And I have to rewatch the episode to see those little what-the-fuck-was-that's that was like Predator on invisible mode or something and smoke.

To me the thing that was dragging Locke seemed like a cable or something winding up, or atleast that's what it sounded like.

Did Jack get a look at what was dragging Locke?

I seriously have to rewatch it.

40. Is Any One Else Frustrated
Edited on Wed May-25-05 09:38 PM by Liberalynn
I loved the show all season but I am the only one getting really frustrated? Can't they at least answer one of the mysteries before thowing in more? I know they can't solve everything or there would be no suspense for next season but can't they at least give us some satisfaction? The writers and producers keep promising that they will but then they don't.

On an interview on GMA this morning Evangeline Lily (Kate) said we were going to get a partial glimpse of the monster. Was that black cloud stuff supposed to be it? Kind of disappointing, if that was it.

I mean I know it makes you think and that's great but I need at least some answers too here. As a former paid researcher I get frustrated if I go too long without discovering at least a partial answer.

I have to confess I was kind of disappointed tonight, I was expecting big weird scary stuff, and I wasn't even un-nerved. I hate to admit I actually laughed when that know it all science teacher blew up because I was thinking thank God he won't be around next season. Plus I will be seriously ticked if Sawyer doesn't survive and make it back next season. If they don't stop throwing out all these ropes without ever tying up loose ends,I'm not sure if I will keep watching next season.

Sorry to be such a bummer but after the build up some of the critics, producers, and writers gave the finale, I was expecting more.

Is any one going to watch the GMA missing scene tomorrow morning?

It does seem like in the eppie about him that he was paralyzed when he donated the kidney. The big thing was that his dad had all that money and then screwed him over. His dad refused to even see him after the surgery and checked out w/o him knowing about it, even though he knew about the paralysis of his legs.
His dad was a d*ck.

79. *Spoiler* (really random speculation)
It looked as if the "monster" was some sort of mechanical thing or force field that could pull things into the hatch or other holes around the island.

The pirates look pretty comfortable and well-prepared. Maybe they're scientists that experiment on the people drawn to the island. Walt and his mental abilities would be interesting to disect. Maybe they need him to find a cure for whatever disease they have contracted.

The numbers are a code that the scientists/cultists/misc. use to mark where they affect things??

it had one of the religious figures in it. The heroin was hidden inside the figures and he saw the one that was broken open. If the figure he brought back to camp is intact, the only people (besides hobbit-boy)who will know what's inside are Locke and Sayid.

90. Gotta say, I dig the show, though some episodes are much
better than others and the rate at which info is given is not as rewarding as it could be. I was disappointed when I read an article about the show and learned that they pretty much make it up as they go along as opposed to knowing what the story is. While this may keep things fresh, I hope that the ultimate payoff will be satisfying.

54. And I think it's the box factory Hurley Owned
Edited on Wed May-25-05 10:02 PM by Wheaty
There was a mention that Hurley owned a box factory that his financial adviser had him buy with lottery winnings that some bad accident happened.

I think the box factory Hurley owned is where Locke worked and was paralyzed in the accident

58. He might have worked in the same box factory.
But they showed he was not able to walk after he donated a kidney to his father. They said that there were complications from the surgery.

43. The thumbs-up Hurley gave to Walt on the plane
It's like they knew eachother, or had some kind of connection. Walt has some kind of psychic ability or something.

44. Exactly.
Everyone will have a connection-kind of like the game 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
As of this time my original theory about the island can still stand. I like that.

46. Hurley said he won the lottery,
but maybe he got the $23,000 by turning the girl--I forget her name--into the police. He looked kind of funny when she said that $23,000 was the amount of her reward.

48. No.
He did win the lottery. They showed in his episode how he was a minimum wage worker and he had won shortly after he got out of a mental institution. His lottery numbers were the numbers on the latch. He got them from a patient at the institution. The patient told him the numbers were cursed.
He was surprised w/ Kate because it was another link to the numbers. He didn't need to turn her in because he was supposed to be worth $160 million back home.

53. He seems to know more than everyone else except he
doesn't know that he knows. Every time something happens or someone says something, it kind of dawns on him that it may mean something, but he can't quite get what it is.....

56. I think that he doesn't trust himself.
They lead us to believe that his release from the institution wasn't that long ago. Chances are good that he has excellent instincts but is afraid to listen to them. I don't think that they ever went into the specifics of why he was in the institution in the first place but I have the feeling that his being institutionalized itself is significant. Maybe he was misdiagnosed and has a true gift or maybe it will evolve into a case of the patients running the ward.
He's the one I plan to watch the closest. Locke also. We don't know if maybe Locke had a near death experience either during the surgery for his father or on the plane. If that is the case than his insights will be some of the most profound. Some cases of near death experiences have claimed to come back w/ heightened senses of everything around them. That would be an excellent reason why he is so in touch w/ the island.

86. No prob.
I have missed some things on the show. I am one of those people who can see or hear something once and file it away to pull up at any time in the future. That's why a show like this appeals to me.

55. 23 is one of the cursed numbers
that he used to win the lottery. His winning numbers were 4 8 15 16 23 42. He looks at her weird, because it was "23" thousand.

He notices the same numbers are on the hatch, and that's why he freaks out and tries to stop them from opening it.

64. The guy who turned Kate into the police
was this kindly older rancher she was working for. Just before the plane came apart, she was going to ask the marshall who arrested her for a favor; the favor was going to be that he make sure the old man actually got the reward money.

82. 666 is the number associated with evil
Edited on Thu May-26-05 08:54 AM by Feeney2
6x6x6=216 which is exactly twice the amount of the total of all the numbers added 4=8=15=16=23=42 = 108. Now if you can tell me why it is exactly twice the amount we can figure this whole show out.
