13 seconds!

This is Michigan, and it was cloudy today! Is that how big the solar flare really was?

1. If it's true, it's scary
Wouldn't that mean people outside at the time for long periods of time (hours) would have skin cancer or third degree burns? Or were those just the damaging 13 seconds?

4. My husband and I were talking about that the other day
Was one of the possible origins of the vampire legends from people with skin disorders? Would an albino who stayed out of the sun because he or she would burn quickly and only went out at night be identified as a vampire. Vampires were supposedly rather pale.

6. Just so you know...
My dad is not on meds, and he does make weird jokes on occasion. I honestly couldn't tell whether or not it was a joke.
