1. I grew up in NM and LOVED the monsoon season!
Everything feels so ALIVE. The remembered smell brings back memories of childhood.

2. Me, too.
I moved here in '01 and love this time of year. Two days ago it was 110 out and now we have lightning, thunder and rain.

It's a - don't blink or you'll miss out situation.

3. Not a drop down here in Las Cruces, althoug we had a bit of spritz
a few days ago and we've had some "monsoony" looking skies the last couple of days.....

The smell of the creosote after it rains is simply bracing! Love it!

4. This post is all about ME
well, not really. We've had a flood here (in Calgary) that, for the most part, was dealt with very well. However... proving this is possibly the most selfish, self-centred place I have ever lived in, when we were told by the Mayor, etc. to conserve water because the water purifying plants could not purify water fast enough, because of the runoff, silt, etc. what did Calgary do? Use more freaking water. So after 2 days, voluntary water use reduction became MANDATORY water reduction. And still, very little reduction. Now, not to sound sanctimonious, but I take 3 minute showers, turn off the tap when brushing, put in brick in my toilet, don't wash dishes/clothes (like, being a liberal that's really really hard <heee>. It just pisses me off that people have no idea how to conserve water./rant

5. Living in a desert region
I try very hard to conserve water. Then you look at the golf courses in town and think..'Shit, they use more water in a day than I do in a year!' Makes one think about where the priorities are............

6. Send some my way, PLEASE!
It's so dry up here the popcorn crop failed today. It hit 91 and it all popped! Covered the county 4" deep! And then some SUV drivers with "W" stickers saw it, slid off the road and froze to death!
