Susan B. Anthony. Not exactly a looker...
Does this statement make me shallow and cruel. She did amazing things for the country, but I'm just saying, she's not known for her pretty face. So, am I being cruel?

2. Not cruel
She probably knew what she looked like, and she's long dead. Anyway, what are you doing checking out a dead chick anyway?

4. Not so much cruel

As extremely shallow and looking at insignificant variables. Kind of reminds me of a former boyfriend I had. We were watching the news and Hillary Clinton was speaking about something, and speaking quite well. His only remark? "I'd do her."

In spite of what the media tells us, there is more to a woman than her looks. Just saying.

edited to add - I doubt if Susan B. Anthony would give a shit about your opinion of her anyway. She had more important concerns.

14. You're right. I was being silly. This is the Lounge after all.
The fact is, I'm sure many of her critics pointed to her looks in order to smear her, instead of hearing her opinions. I'm sure she wouldn't give a damn what I thought of her looks.

There's no way of getting myself out of this, is there?

18. all that matters is you learned something
that's all any of us can do. The more open to improvement anyone is, the better.

I think that the prime difference between progressives and conservatives--we are open to growth and self reflection.

conservatives want a static, pleasing facade. To hell with what the underlying truth is.

5. Tad bit
Another case in point was Eleanor Roosevelt. She wasn't a physical beauty but probably one of the most beautiful women ever because of her deeds and beliefs.

10. Yes that is exactly what they are
I have recently gotten interested in them again and decided to adopt them as my mascot here. They seem to be getting a lot of attention. You have been about the twelfth person to make mention of them since I put them up last week.

16. Right. I've seen plenty of people that most of us would consider
outwardly beautiful, but are hardly beautiful on the inside.
