Did I give my cousin ok love advice?
My wife's cousin has had a boyfriend for a while now. She is going to be 24 in a few weeks. I think this guy is her first fairly serious boyfriend.

So, we exchange emails (she lives overseas, as does her boyfriend...) every once in a while and recently she asked me what she should do about her boyfriend? She said she isn't sure about him, but when she doesn't see him for a while, she does miss him sometimes. They've been together for a while and he professes his love for her... but, she doesn't really reciprocate. She is actually very nice, and I hope she doesn't come across as heartless or anything - I think she's just confused.

I basically told her that if she really loved him, she would be sure about the guy. And, I also said that it isn't fair to either one of them if she drags out the relationship longer, as the longer it lasts, the more you will hurt the guy and the harder it will be for her. I didn't put it that bluntly.

Did I do ok? I'm not used to be asked for love advice.

2. It sounds good to me. If she loved him, I think she would
know. He obviously loves her, but if she doesn't feel the same, then it really isn't fair to the boyfriend, IMO!

3. I agree
from what she tells me, he's a decent enough guy... and I told her that she is young & has plenty of time to find the right guy - and, she still wants to get her master's degree, too.

4. Of course. And you don't want to settle for someone you
don't love. She should give herself the chance to find true love if that is what she wants.
