Use the "DU Dedication Line" to dedicate songs to people or groups whom you may think deserve it for one reason or another, good or bad. The idea is to discuss the song(s) and their relevance, follow up with other "dedications", or whatever.
NOTE: The mods inform me that it's best not to post the entire song lyrics, but only partial lyrics with a link. I suggest also posting links to sites where you can listen to a clip from the song, if possible (they're often on CDnow.com). Now, here, is the first ever DU Song Dedication on the "DU Dedication Line":
"Going Underground" by the Jam, and it goes out to all of you at DU. I've been listening to old stuff like the Jam recently, and I find this song is particularly relevant today... besides which, the "Underground" reference, of course.
Partial Lyrics:
Going Underground by Paul Weller (performed by the Jam)
"Somethings happening here today
A show of strength with your boy's brigade and,
I'm so happy and you're so kind
You want more money - of course I don't mind
To buy nuclear textbooks for atomic crimes..."
"What you see is what you get
You've made your bed, you better lie in it
You choose your leaders and place your trust
As their lies wash you down and their promises rust
You'll see kidney machines replaced by rockets and guns
And the public wants what the public gets
But I don't get what this society wants"
"We talk and talk until my head explodes
I turn on the news and my body froze
The braying sheep on my TV screen
Make this boy shout, make this boy scream!
Going underground!"
