Does anyone else just HATE the B-52s?
Gawd, I can't stand them. They play "Roam" or "Love Shack" every day at the gym (I know, I should bring my iPod, but I try to concentrate on what I'm doing), and I HATED those songs when I had to listen to them repeatedly in college.

Am I the only one who hates this damned band?

1. "Love Shack" is one of the only 80's pop songs I hate
I normally love 80's pop music, but that song just gets on my nerves.

2. Not to mention "Rock Lobster" -- like nails on a friggin chalkboard
"Motion in the ocean ... his airhose broke ... " Fred Schneider at his most irritating (IMO).

The shack that inspired that song was destroyed. Where were YOU the night of the 25th? :grr:

4. Probably, but not me
I like 'em, and at times I love 'em. I can see how hearing those two songs every day would change my mind, though. :-)

7. Love the first two albums...
...they were very hit-and-miss after that, IMO. The Party Mix EP was great too, but I don't think it's ever been out on CD.

Legal Tender is a great song, and Wig is always good for a laugh. Love Shack is good for group karaoke because nobody has to really be able to sing. I can see getting sick of it and Roam if you hear them a lot.

But for my money, Rock Lobster is a better "epic" than Bohemian Rhapsody or Stairway to Heaven.

9. Planet Claire is fine.
But yes, Love Shack just drives me crazy anymore, all that yelling, no thank you. In fact, I just heard that song on Accu Radio and had to change it, thinkin to myself "I just don't like that song."

12. Love Shack is one you're guaranteed to be forced to hear
Edited on Mon Jul-18-05 06:44 PM by Neo
at weddings, along with Play That Funky Music, YMCA, and that stupid electric glide line dance song that inspires paralyzing rage!

They're a talented band no doubt, but WAY to happy sounding for my taste. They need to bash their heads against the wall a few times before they sing.

I enjoy Play that Funky Music and YMCA...

But every since the third grade when my school would have a live band come in and play songs for us at the end of the year.. I have always despised the eletric slide (Or is it glide... does it even matter?)

Edit: What's worse we had to do the Electric slide (Glide? Who cares) in P.E for a grade.

I thought this is what Rock has come to....

Rock Lobster.....

But then I sobered up and now, well the songs can get to you if you hear them evryday, but once in a while, they kick

20. I saw the B-52s in concert in the mid '90s
Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders opened for them. Blew them off the fucking stage!!!

I was really pumped for the Pretenders but was looking forward to seeing the B-52s.

I remember that night for Chrissie, (angry bangs, eyeliner and kick-ass Fender Telecaster). :headbang: :headbang:
