HOLY BATCRAP!!!! Rick Santorum is doing a book signing in Delaware
He's coming to the local Barnes & Noble on Concord Pike on August 10th at 6:30pm.

I shall now spend the next hour emailing this information to every progressive group in the Philadelphia area!

He's suppose to be signing books and having a discussion - my only question - "Why are you so scared of college educated women like me?"

1. If Only I Could...
I'd walk up to him wearing a papier mache dildo on my head.

2. "Do you find missionary-only sex fulfilling, Senator?"
"And more importantly, what the fuck is with making your kids touch your stillborn child?"

8. Ugh! He did this??
That is just bizarre. I'm sorry for the family's loss but there is just something macabre about making your kids touch their dead sibling. Creepy.

12. Someone on DU posted that they took it home
for a few days. Gross.

Now i strongly believe in the bonding process for stillborn babies, but this was really weird.

14. The baby's name was Gabrial and yep, it's true!!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A61804-2005Apr17.html

In his Senate office, on a shelf next to an autographed baseball, Sen. Rick Santorum keeps a framed photo of his son Gabriel Michael, the fourth of his seven children. Named for two archangels, Gabriel Michael was born prematurely, at 20 weeks, on Oct. 11, 1996, and lived two hours outside the womb.

Upon their son's death, Rick and Karen Santorum opted not to bring his body to a funeral home. Instead, they bundled him in a blanket and drove him to Karen's parents' home in Pittsburgh. There, they spent several hours kissing and cuddling Gabriel with his three siblings, ages 6, 4 and 1 1/2. They took photos, sang lullabies in his ear and held a private Mass.

18. Yep, and you thought your elected officials were warped
Personally I didn't think you were allowed to bring dead bodies home from the hospital. I mean, that thing had to start stinking after awhile since basically it was a rotting corpse and there the kids are cuddling it.

24. Oh he wrote a doozy of a book
In his book he says it's a waste of money to send girls to college. Basically he wants us to stay at home and pop out babies until we die of exhaustion. He also feels that families where both parents work are just greedy and if they cut back on some of the unneeded stuff (You know food) the mother could then stay home and raise the kids.

26. That's why we want him to go home to his home state of Virginia
His residence in PA is a 2bed/1bath $100k home in a low-tax neighborhood outside of Pittsburgh that he rents out to his niece. He, his wife and their six living kids have permament resisdence in Leesburg VA where the Penn Hill School district in PA pays to homeschool his kids

27. Yeah Ive heard about that
Yeah he was born in Winchester and lives in Leesburg, a place I know all too well. I think Casey can beat him really, I hope so, Santorum is one of the worst they got and hes the third highest republican in the senate, he would likely be majority whip if reelected as Frist is retiring and McConnell is likely to assume hopefully minority leader.

He really said that about not bothering to send girls to college? I thought that attitude went out years ago. Of course I know this is Santorum. Maybe I should move to PA so I can vote against this clown. What an asshole.

19. Mind giving him a message from me?
Here it is:

"You're a pathetic bigoted scumbag who's helping inflict serious damage on our country, and God WILL punish you for it."

I'd do it myself, but I can't get up there, and I doubt he's ever going to be in Florida.

Unfortunately your state is filled with idiots who think he's great. Hell Jeb Bush and Terri Schaivo's family will be there to introduce him.

It's a shame how your state has been hijacked by these hypocrites because I honestly believe your state is definately a progressive one but with your current voting system you'll be stuck with the nutjobs representing you

yeah go there, but he wont run for senate here, we have two republicans, one of whom is very ambitious for the presidency, and the christian right just loves him. God I hate fuckin George Allen.

33. Yep and we would rival Oklahoma for the worst senators
It would be sick, fortunately I plan to be going to college in New York or wherever by 2008, Warner isnt as bad as Allen actually, hes pretty republican on the national level but the local republicans and him have had differences, for instance, he refused to back Ollie North, didnt back this home school advocate for Lt Governor, and he supported the tax referedum a fwe years back, I wouldnt vote for him of course but hes better than Santorum.

29. I wasn't overly familiar with Santorum until I saw him on The Daily Show..
I came up with a rant mocking his bullshit about marriage being for the purpose of having kids and that's why gay marriage is bad, but I'm too lazy to retype it here.

That guy is a complete scumfuck though.

34. I'm torn about going.........
I would hate it if no dissenters were present to make him uncomfortable, but I get so agitated that I think it's unhealthy for me. I'd stand there sweating, heart racing, waiting for the moment to say something like "How do you claim to be a true Christian when you and your party support tax cuts for the richest of the rich while you cut social services for the poor--you know, the ones Christ told you to take care of?"

I went to a Mike Castle event one time and asked how he could say that Bush is the "education president" when his first goal was to cut taxes for the rich and run up huge deficits. But I was so out-numbered that I felt uncomfortably anxious.

I just don't like to be around "those kind of people."
