Landlords Evict Dog Owners
This is from the local news station where I live...I think this is amoral. These people moved in to these homes thinking that pets were okay with the landlord and now because of new ownership they are facing eviction. I'm sure had these people thought it would be their pts or eviction, they wouldn't have moved there to begin with.

2. Hopefully an attorney who specializes in animal law...

...will see this and get involved. This is likely an illegal eviction.

FYI Pet owners: A good resource out there re: companion animal law, written in layman's terms, is "Dog Law" by Mary Randolph, published by Nolo Press. It addresses this very situation. (And applies to most pets, not just dogs.)

4. Well, I feel bad for those people
But there WAS a no pets clause in the lease. Though the old landlord ignored it, it seems rather foolish to suppose that a new landlord would. Certainly, the situation could have been handled better (all the way around) but I think part of the blame has to go on the tenants for assuming things would be okay.

5. My brother once had an apartment that went co-op...so he had to find
another place to live. While I think this is nasty on the part of the landlord (especially the wording of the letter), I don't see how it's any different. My brother got first crack at the co op of course, but he didn't have the 350 thousand for the high end turn around they were doing on the apartment complex. Them's the breaks I have to believe. Awfully sad though.
