He has the necessary deadpan, I-don't-give-a-shit-but-with-class demeanor.

10. Will Smith and Jimmy Smits.
Either could handle the sly humor well. Smits is a little long in the tooth, but still, holy moly that's a good-looking man. (Mr. Smith, also is A Handsome Man.)

16. I don't think the role is classy enough for Don Cheadle.
Edited on Sat Oct-15-05 07:40 PM by NNadir
I can't say I've seen a James Bond movie since Sean Connery, but from what I'd guess, Don Cheadle would overwhelm the role.

But it would be a waste of Don Cheadle's talent.

He played opposite Helen Mirren in the second "Prime Suspect" and was her secret lover. Hubba Hubba! He'd make a perfect Bond-no matter the etnicity.

34. Will Smith - watch "Enemy of the State" for a semi-template.
I'd prefer the crass humor nixed, ala the Dalton days, but the masses love their humor. But just so long as they give us an intelligent plot - something that's been lacking ever since 1995.

50. Don't care - apart from no bloody American.
I have yet to come across an American who sounded even 2% succesful with any British accent - Bond is British (probably English too).

An interesting one would be a Bond from the Indian sub-continent - this is the largest immigrant group (though it is actually about 5+ distinct groups) in the U.K. - I'm sure that in reality M.I.6 do have a number of such folk working for them.
