Say hello to my little friend! (We got a new kitten) (photo)
Fall is the beginning of the busy time of year for goodgirl and I at our jobs, and we are not home very much. Our cat, Mimi was alone almost all day, every day. We thought that wasn't fair for Mimi so we decided to get her a friend to keep her company.

Here's our new kitten, Kiska! (pronounced Keesh-Ka)

And here's Mimi:

They became buddies pretty quickly with a minimal amount of hissing and growling, although Mimi still growls and hisses when Kiska tries to nurse or eat her food etc. I was worried it would take a few days for Mimi to relax, but she warmed up pretty quickly!

7. thanks! goodgirl volunteers at the shelter where we got both our cats, so
she deserves the recognition for choosing Kiska.

6. when I read about how tough it can be to bring in a new cat, I really
wasn't sure if I wanted to do it, but I'm glad I did.

There's still some jealosy from Mimi, and some hissing and dirty looks, but I think she'll get over it.

16. What I've always been told is...
Be sure to give Mimi plenty of alone attention in this "adjustment" period. I know it's easy (especially with a new *kitten*!) to fawn all over her a lot and sort of neglect the "old" animal....so I would just be sure to give some extra attention to Mimi to let her know that she is still your kitty too and this new munchkin isn't going to take her place. When I've introduced new pets, I try and pull the old ones aside in a room for awhile and just pet them and talk to them. She'll likely get adjusted pretty quickly this way. :) Good Luck!

They're good luck! :)

What beautiful girls you have...lucky duck! My calico girl is the love of my life - we found her with her brother at 4 weeks old tied up in a garbage bag along an interstate near my house. Anywho, congrats bunches! (and I have to make my obligatory plea to please don't forget to spay her by 6 months of age :))

Congrats to you, goodgirl, and Mimi! :bounce:
