4. So hows Denmark working for you?
I'm starting to feel that the people telling me "if you don't like it leave" are right.

5. Actually....
I'm loving it... am beginning to get things seriously well settled over here and life is, on the whole, excellent.

It might not be everyone's cup of tea... but hell... I just drink kaffe instead...

10. Well the economy is booming more than somewhat here...
... so there's work in all sectors...

Denmark is perceived as something of a beacon of economic, social and political synergy...

The taxes hurt like all hell - but then we have a public transport system that works, health-care that is second to none and social/education policies that ensure a very level playing field.

Plus we get to eat a lot of pork - so pork-farming is VERY big here...

8. How did you find DU?
And what is it that interests you about this screwed up political system we have in this crazy country?

11. I found DU through my brother...
... who strangely enough is truebrit71... he lives in Illinois, and being a pretty politcally aware family he pointed me in this direction a while back - and to ensure our conversations are as animated as possible, it's a good thing for me to follow what's happening stateside so I can understand wtf he's talking about when he calls to rant.

I also think it worthwhile the DUers understanding that their cause and concerns are shared worldwide - that we Europeans are not all cheese-eating surrender monkeys but aware, focused and opinionated individuals in our own right.

Let's face it, DUers and the rest of the world are generally united in a loathing of the Bushistas and everything they represent.

9. I visited Denmark this past spring
Copenhagen, Odense, Ribe, Fredrichsborg Slot....

You have a beautiful country and I really liked all the bike paths on the roads.

:hi:

12. Wow... you got to do a fair old bit of traveling
... although the country is only a wee bit larger than a postage stamp.

It is very beautiful indeed... and yes it is literally possible to cycle from one end of the country to the other on bike-paths (except across the Storbaelt, the 20 mile stretch of water separating the islands of Fyn and Sjaelland, where it gets kinda damp...)

Ohio screwed the country or did the republicans screw Ohio?

18. From my distant viewpoint...
... I'd say the latter...

If it weren't Ohio that became the state in the spotlight, some other "crunch" state would have become the whipping-boy.

Ohio didn't screw the country... the feckin' eejits with testicles for brains and jello for hearts did that in all states that returned a red-colour.

If the the more ignorant "reflex-voters" had actually had the intellect to open their minds to all the issues, and see the lies for what they really were - then the political map of the States would be a different colour entirely.

The blame for the fact that Bushco still infest the political spectrum with their brand of double-think and hypocrisy does not lie at the door of a single state. :)
