Quaker owners; how do you deal with a snotty baby?
He's still a crybaby. He's scared when I put out my finger for him to step on, but I encourage him to step up and play a while - or even if I give up and leave him be - when I step out of the room he shrieks, and for a 5 month old he's bloody loud!

Even if I'm on the phone or sitting at my computer desk next to his cage he'll start shrieking.

Zoe, my Senegal, is never like this.

Right now the baby quaker is contentedly preening himself on my shoulder. :eyes: It's almost funny and he's cute as hell, but I never expected him to be a miniature panic siren!

1. It's a Quaker. They're insane birds
Every one I have met is neurotic. Ours is a plucker and a screamer. Hell, we had her on Valium for a while and she still never calmed down. Get used to 25 years of it.

3. I've known some calm Quakers
They seem to need more of everything--attention, time, love, guidance--than other small parrots though. Are you on any bird boards? The people at the mytoos.com forum are a great resource, even though the board's more geared toward cockatoos.

Good luck!

Tucker
