Denver man's rear allegedly damaged in Home Depot toilet incident

NOVEMBER 9--Is this the smoking bum? You're looking at the rosy red rear of the Denver man who claims to have been superglued to a toilet in a Home Depot restroom. The photo of Bob Dougherty's posterior was taken by Louisville, Colorado cops after medical personnel pried him off the sticky potty in October 2003 (the images, including a second shot of the 57-year-old Dougherty apparently grimacing in his bed, were snapped at Boulder Community Hospital, where Dougherty had been admitted). The photos were provided to TSG by Mark Cohen, Dougherty's lawyer. Last month, Dougherty filed a $3 million lawsuit against Home Depot in connection with the 2003 glue incident (click here to read his District Court complaint). He claims that the store's bathroom did not stock disposable toilet seat covers and that employees ignored his calls for help. The glue incident was originally investigated as a possible third degree assault or criminal mischief case, according to Louisville Police Department reports. But, three weeks after its occurence, the matter was downgraded to "inactive" status due to a paucity of investigative leads. (11 pages)
