Some of you may remember this cat, lost 9 weeks ago.

Well today, just since I was in the neighborhood of our old house, I stopped to call him again.

I hear a loud meowing, and here comes my little BC, skinny as hell but purring up a storm.

I scooped him up, put in the truck, and took him home.

2. There is that certain meow
that seems to be the cat equivalent of "Thank God! I'm so glad to see you. I'm never doing THAT again."

I'm glad you found each other again.

12. He made that meow
for at least 20 miles.

One thing we could never do was touch his front paws, and today he even allows that.

13. He ate a cheeseburger (a whole one)
on the way home.

On a body scale, he is about a 1 or 1.5, which is on the starving end.

8. I'm happy for you! I know what you went through sorta...
We have two kitties, the oldest one is Molly. One day we bought a new bed, and decided to give our old one away to friends who could use it. So the friends came over, we locked the kitties in another room so they wouldn't run outside with our door wide open. They left and went home, we went to lucnh. When we came back, we had a message from the friend saying that when the unloaded the box spring from their truck, something furry shot out of a hole in it!

Sure enough, we couldn't find Molly ANYWHERE. So we headed to this friend's house, which is in a trailer park. The people there are very messy and there are tons of strays there, living in abandoned trailers and eating out of the dumpsters that no one ever closes.

There must have been hundreds of cats there. On the roofs, sleeping in trees, on top of cars, it was SICK. Molly is a Calico, and so were at least half of the poor cats that lived there. We looked for hours, until it started getting dark...the only place we did not look was between two trailers that had monster dogs on each porch, thinking Molly wouldn't go near them, but sure enough, she was huddled up next to a tree looking bewildered.

I thank the universe every day that we were able to get her back. And we never leave the house without counting heads LOL!

Did he leave your new home to go back to his old hunting grounds? Or did he skip out while you were moving and never saw his new home? Just curious. I don't remember your earlier posting.

11. He shot out the door of the old house on moving day,
our old house is about 35 miles from the new house. I had actually given up a couple of weeks ago, but thought that since I was out that way I should try again.

It was going to be my last try, today.

21. lol
Pour him a few beers and bar-b-que some mice. He won't forget, but he will put it off for awhile.

My cat went into the spare bedroom last week where Mr. Graywarrior slept because I was sick and he PISSED ON HIS BACK!. WTF? Then, a few days ago, when no one was looking he went in and pissed on the bed again. He has two clean litter boxes! He was pissed (ha ha) because we kept him in all night.

26. To help a cat figure out his new location is HOME after a move
Keep the kitty inside for at least two weeks. Research points to the probability that cats are very sensitive to electro magnitic fields of places. It takes about two weeks for them to 'tune into' the field of a new home are figure that is where they are supposed to be.

Some cats might still try to return to the old 'hood, but most people who use the two weeks INSIDE tactic find it works.

Glad you got your lad back! Hope he decides to stay in the new digs so you don't have to go through that again!.

Good luck. He is a beauty, and I know how sad a cat-less house can be. Smiles that you have him back to make home. A very good Thanksgiving for your house coming up!

28. Yep, he stays inside for a while.
I got a call from my wife (I'm at work now) that the cat has not been more than 3 feet from her. She works from home doing medical transcription and he was laying on her desk, she took a break for a nap and he slept on her chest under the blanket for an hour.

I think he missed his people.

I can't imagine how you felt when you saw him and when he heard you.

I had to leave a feral I fed when I moved once that would not let me catch him. I felt so bad - I can't imagine how you felt with this guy since he was really part of the family.

34. He was a feral rescue,
it took us so long to get him to trust us, and then we felt like we abandoned him.

He seems like all is forgiven, if the constant purr is any indicator.
