Today's tip for musicians (particularly piano players):
Never try to fake a Sousa march on 2 1/2 hours of sleep.

4. I had a gig last night. Couldn't call in sick.
Actually, I could have called in sick, but I really need to work with my one pre-school class today on songs for their upcoming holiday sing. I also had to play for the end of our "chapel" while people were filing out, so I decided to play "The Liberty Bell", as the Mendelsohn piece the other music teacher was playing while kids were coming in had a melody that reminded me of it. I actually made it through pretty well, but it took every last bit of concentration I had. :)

I would have gotten 3 hours of sleep, but I had to give a piano lesson this morning as well. Luckily, tonight's gig that would have been about a 2 hour drive each way was cancelled.

3. Really, really good advice.
It's those running octaves that'll kill ya!
