The Early-Bird Gets The Rebates!!

I just returned from an early-bird shopping trip to Staples. I set my alarm clock for 5AM so that I could be in line and ready for their opening at 6AM... I was there early enough to be the 6th person in line!

For 8 on-sale items, my grand total (BEFORE REBATES) was $136.00. The total amount of my REBATES is $106.00!! My net cost is $30.00!!

Sometimes I'm forgetful about filling in the rebate forms and sending them in... but THIS TIME, I've got it all taken care of. All but one of the Staples rebates could be processed online, and that one is already in the mail.

Even though I haven't finished Xmas shopping, my "Black Friday" shopping adventure is completed! For most everything else I'll probably do my Xmas shopping online.

Okay, that's it... I just wanted to brag about the bargains I found.

6. I'm Pretty Sure That Stores Actually EXPECT Most People To Forget...

... to mail in the rebate form and proof-of-purchase. They dangle the "bait" of a $25.00 discount to get you to buy whatever it is you want.

But surely they already know that they will pay out the rebate on only about 50% of the items that were actually sold.

not the stores, but the manufacturers on most of these rebates :) Though staples does have it's own as well

5. Assuming you GET the money from the rebates...

Not to pee in the punch, but I've been burned a few times.

"Lost mail"

"Beyond the 30 days from the date on the receipt" (uh-huh)

"Not an original receipt" (so why did they say a duplicate would be ok?) I lost out on a $100 rebate alone because of that lie; so don't expect me to buy from Maxtor ever again.


I sincerely hope you get all the rebate dough back, however. I'll keep my fingers crossed AND clasped in prayer for you (it's a neat trick...)
