10. It's a rare event, a brief flash of green above the sun right at sunset.
Go to Google Images, do a search for "Green Flash" and you'll see some examples.

5. At the beach once.
I was watching the sunset and it briefly turned green. Didn't think much of it, because I didn't find out they were rare until later.

It actually started blue, turned green, then white, yellow, orange, and faded with the rest of the sun.

I was told later that it's caused by the sunlight bounding back up from the ocean beyond the horizon, and being re-reflected towards the viewer by water vapor offshore. Dunno how true that is, but it was neat to watch.

6. Last night I was on our patio and I saw this GLOWING BRIGHT LIGHT and
I am not kidding you, I called to my husband, OMFG there's a fn UFO or something and I even took pictures of it. I was CONVINCED it was something freaky. My house looks over the LAX flight routes so I am used to seeing airplanes and helicopters but this was 10 times the size and brightness and it was hovering, not even moving. OMG I can't even tell you how my heart was racing. 3 digital camera photos - I was convinced it was something that would make the news today. Then guess what, the fn thing turned and it was a helicopter. It had been facing my house (so the headlight was directly pointed towards me) and yes it was hovering because I guess there was some award show it was covering. Anyway, I also got shots of it as it's headlight turned away from me so I could then see it was a helicopter. I guess you could say it was an optical illusion. It looked so much more sinister than a helicopter though
