$24,000 for an associate's degree online?!?! Fuck that!

I'm looking into finishing my degree, which is not easy, because there is no school within 90 miles offering degrees in my field. So I've been looking at online schools. I spent an hour filling out an online application for one such school before I got to the bottom line: $24,000 for an associate's degree!!!! What a freaking RIPOFF!

I guess my little community college spoiled me rotten: $50 per credit hour. Man. I wish I still lived within driving distance of my former college. It was an amazing educational value.

And beware the medical transcriptionist jobs - commercials make it sound like a goldmine, but those jobs typically pay $24,000/yr.

And how much did the schooling for that cost again, $20,000?

The educational system is a sham. So is our corporate sect for making education worthless. What's the point of having it if you can't use it, even indirectly?

In much the same way that M*A*S*H* surgeons were surgeons: no time to do a proper job, just hammer out 15-20 ads a day for clients who want me to put the entire bible on the head of a pin.

Thank god I talked myself out of computer science school in the late '90's. I'd be totally fucked right now.
