My son told me something that got my blood boiling, today.
A few weeks ago, he went to his high school's football game, and apparently someone he knew got into a scuffle (not even a real fight, mind you) with someone else over a hat. The situation somehow got resolved on its own. Right after the situation resolved, one of the local police officers walked up to the young man and asked where he went to school. Apparently the young man did not tell him, instead saying something about not needing to tell the officer. The officer escalated the situation, brought the boy to the squad car and asked him his name, where he went to school, and was he smoking pot that evening.

:grr:

And they say we do not live in a police state.

1. That is too bad, my dear KitchenWitch......
I suspect the officer was trying to make sure that the situation was truly under control......

Perhaps there had been trouble at the school? I don't know......

Second guessing from a distance is difficult!

I do know that the police often do things that we ordinary folks consider invasive...my sil is a cop.....

 :loveya:

2. No trouble at the school
This is very suburban, very upper middle class area...

The situation had been cleared up for over 5 minutes...according to my son.

What kills me is the misinformation about certain drugs...people who smoke marijuana, in most cases, do not get violent...the contrary happens, they get mellow and hungry! So for the cop to ask about pot was fucking ridiculous.

4. Yeah--the same people are the ones that assume
that ALL drugs are horrible and lead to violent behaviour. I'm not a drug advocate persay, but I just don't see why they like to criminalize pot.

When I was a teen, I worked in a movie theater. We got a movie that was expected to get a lot of 'pot smokers' and such for--I honestly can't recall which movie it was.

Anyway, the owner wasn't disturbed or freaked in the slightest. He told us all stories about when Scarface played at the theater. He said almost all the people that saw Scarface at his theater were high on pot (they could smell it in the bathrooms--Scarface was so long, they intermissioned it). He said they were THE most mellow, cool people. He loved them! They bought LOTS of goodies from the concession stand! LOL!
