Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas...
Just got it last weekend and I've already watched it four times. I thought it was pretty brilliant.

Del Toro as Dr. Gonzo was really intense; did he get any awards out of this (he should have, for sure). Depp was awesome, and I was never much of a Johnny Depp fan before, maybe that's why I only now got around to watching the movie.

Hilarious and disturbing: I give it ***** (5 stars).

Any thoughts, anyone? Favorite lines?

1. The book was better, IMO
But the film was better than Where the Buffalo Roam.

2. that almost goes without saying
What a nearly impossible task it must've been to try and come up with a way to make that book into a movie. I didn't see Where the Buffalo Roam but heard it sucked and that Bill Murray became an intolerable asshole for a while from associating with HT.

3. I LOVE that movie
It is fantastic. Fucking brilliant, in my opinion. I know plenty of people hated it, and of course the book was better, but what a challenge to bring that thing to the screen. And how well met that challenge was by Terry Gilliam. And Johnny Depp was nothing short of brilliant. Benecio Del Toro even better. In fact, I might toss it in the machine right about now :)

Cracked me up.

4. I gotta agree with Pokerfan.
Some of the stuff in the book didn't translate very well to film, IMHO! "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail" is also an excellent read.
