Husband's work party tonight.
Yuck. We can't stand 99% of the people he works with. The other 1% are great people, but I'd rather be napping. :(

1. You are singing my song.
I hate attending work parties with my husband. It couldn't be more ackward. I hardly know any of them and I can't relate to what they talk about. All I do is get introduced to people I will never remember. You have to shake dozens of hands and put on a fake smile the entire time. It bores me to tears. I'd much rather stay warm at home watching a good movie or show on TV. Why do they insist on having spouses attend these things? It is dreadful.

I have one tonight to attend and I'd rather go to the dentist.

11. I hope you had an okay time!
Thanks for your thoughts, I did end up winning a $100 Gift Certificate to Marshall Field's, Which I am somehow going to donate. To either a women's shelter or local Katrina victim. :hi:

2. To the one percent
I raise my glass :toast: and say, enjoy their company and celebrate the friendship.

To the other 99% - well, you don't have an ignore feature in real life, but I can tell you from personal experience here, ignoring the others makes the celebration with friends that much sweeter.

I just love the ignore feature here, my blood pressure is so much lower. :-)

Celebrate good friends! :toast: Enjoy yourself, you do deserve that! :loveya:

12. merh, that's why I need you in my life. For those great glasses of
lemonade you manage to make out of my lemons. It ended up being "okay". I was designated driver for a couple of people. For me, it's always fun to laugh a little at the antics of those who drink a bit too much. :hi:

4. We have my work party tonight
and check this out - we have to pay to go!

Sure it is voluntary, but it is also politically correct for me to be there. And right now it is snowing like a mother and my dress shoes are not snow worthy. grrr

7. booze is your friend
Assume the party is at 7pm Start drinking at 5 pm or so. So when you get there you are already kinda smashed then have another drink. Your husband can then say you never drink at ha-ha isn't she a lightweight. Then you get to leave.

19. Ha! We got there at about 6:45 (party started at 6) by the time they
cleared the tables after dinner, it was nine. We stayed for the casino room (gamble and win raffle tickets for prizes), and then stayed for the raffle. We were reallyyy lucky. MrG won a bottle of liquor of his choice, and I won a $100 gift certificate to Marshall Fields. And there were only 6 prizes to raffle among 80+ people...so I guess it was worth it. :hi:

10. I actually usually enjoy those
it's the only time I get to see some of the folks my H works with and their wives and kids, and I like a number of them very much. Also they always pick cool places to meet (like hipster art galleries and places with pool tables and vids for the kids). And they have great imported beers and wine. I usually want to go more than he does! And then one of the owners dresses up as Santa and it is great to see all the new crop of babies and toddlers reaction to that.

much more fun than any of my work parties.

21. Most of the people that my husband works with are not our type....
They are really into materialism and backstabbing. They had a casino room this year which was kind of fun so it wasn't the total loss it usually is. :hi

23. I am sorry hugs
I worked in a company before where it was ninety percent repuke.
Look at it this way most of the time wont be spent on politics or it shouldn't be. If it is you got the spying issue and the always popular if the war is such a good thing how come you or your kids wont enlist in it arsenal. Hang in there let us know how it goes.

:) This got kicked by me replying to well wishes yesterday. Thanks so much DanCa. My husband has one coworker who could be (quite possibly) more angry at Bush and company than us, even. :) The others are materialistic backstabbers, with the exception of one of the secretaries. I always tell my husband that it's a control experiment by the owner. That he provides gobs of alcohol and then sits back and takes notes on who is out of control etc...;) :hi:
