In praise of....XemaSab
Why do I like XemaSab? She's friendly, and funny, and intelligent. She's pretty, no matter what she thinks of her hair. She has interesting ideas on home decoration (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=4497323). Her avatar is a piece of broccoli. It's the age of XemaSab. Who could ask for more?

42. It's an anagram of your name: baSameX.
I always though that Basamex was a word that meant something to you for personal reasons and you spelled it backwards for similarly personal reasons. Speculation, of course.

And I do indeed have three thumbs. Not on my hands of course; they're in the fridge, underneath the boiled ears.

67. Black Vulture as a night bird...
I took my dogs out for a walk in an office park that's right next to my neighborhood. It's pretty well lit, and has a power line tower that the vultures roost on. Add some stray gunfire and fireworks with the new year (welcome to Texas), and you get a few that manage to stick their head out long enough not to appear red.

I volunteer at the Mitchell Lake Audubon Center. We've got some tremendous birders in town, including the state's RBA compiler, who also managed to "recruit" to town one of the members of the TOS review committee. We've also got the guy who has the biggest Central America list on the ABA, almost 1000 spp.

It's a fact.

Frankly, and this is a serious admission.... the dump at Corpus was really gross, and I had to bail long before Martin became bored....

Sheridan's a pretty good friend. She had me my life Green Kingfisher, Black-Capped Titmouse, Least Grebe, Golden-Fronted Woodpecker, Crested Caracara, Couch's Kingbird, and McCown's Longspur.

And I owe Martin for the aforementioned LBB gull, Green Jay, and Rufous-Capped Warbler.

(as an aside, I almost ate it reaching for Kaufman... not for the first time  )

73. That is a rather, er, aromatic place, even for a dump.
The winter before last, that place went absolutely wild with vagrants, and with Martin and Willie Sekula trolling the place, they kept finding new stuff. Tedious, though. I like my vagrants posing nicely and unmistakably from a branch.

Did you get any of the Rio Grande Valley vagrants last winter? I managed to see the Social Flycatcher with Martin and Sheridan on I think January 8.

75. Not a bad list.
It took me years to finally see all the regularly occurring RGV birds. Funny, last winter that was the place to be, this year the best thing seen down there is actually a Snow Bunting and a few (probably returning) Arizona-type birds.

Oh, well, I need to get some sleep, although I could probably stay up all night (In CST, it's what, about another hour or two?). I still haven't seen the Glaucous Gull that's in the south end of the county. There's also a Tropical Parula lurking about.

Happy New Year.

83. Not really.
Just hung out, drank, watched the fireworks on TV, then went to sleep myself. :D

I'm getting boring in my old age of 26.
