Question: Why do planes sometimes fly really low
in residential areas? I live in a rural area and I was just wondering if anyone knows for sure why planes do this. They seem to be doing it more and more lately, especially military planes.

1. Could be one of a couple of reasons
If there is an airport nearby, they might be landing.
In my home area, there were planes that flew low, looking for marijuana plants.
In my home area, some local Republican, who was a pilot, was running for office and flew his plane with a campaign slogan. During a local festival, he flew much lower than I think is legally permissable. Frankly, I am suprised that he did not crash into a building.

3. Maybe the marijuana plant search is on, but these
are military planes. We only have a small airport. I don't think any larger cargo sized planes could land there if they wanted to. It's for those small planes. Or Bike Writer could be right. They could be "surveilling" me. :hide:

4. It's possible. These are military planes, I think.

They could be "surveilling" me for my politics. I am an extreme aberration for this area. Makes me an easy target.

6. They could be getting in quotas of landings before 2006, too.

5. Oh, it's the transport planes?
They are probably just doing their training missions, I believe they sometimes use neighborhoods as mission checkpoints.
