Weird version of the fifth Brandenburg Concerto right now
streaming on

http://www.allclassical.org

It has both harpsichord and piano.

This is the concerto with the absolutely insane harpsichord solo passages. Can't wait until the weird stuff arrives.

1. Excuse misspelling of "Brandenberg"
Here comes the solo.

Everybody streaming?

It's going to get fucked up right now!

2. Oh, I spelled it correctly the first time.
My, what a long year it has been.

6. I promise you I can't help it.
The notion stuck with my best friend Krissy and I at the time, and I couldn't help but be reminded. We were immature college girls at the time. It's like the time I went into the Musee d'Orsay and muttered, "Monet, schmonet, big fat phonay". We love Bach. We do.

De Gustibus, right? :D :*

You and I have been to the same concert of the Brandenburgs, even, as I needn't tell you.

I was a bit better dressed than those you complained about that night, though.

Probably not as well dressed as you, though.

20. Ack! Some of those people looked like they had come
straight from the campground. Going to hear world-class musicians. I'd never witnessed such a disgraceful sight before. And does anyone in Portland own a pair of footwear with enclosed heels and toes?

21. It's very funny that the Catlin Gabel audience for that was poorly dressed
At the Kaul Auditorium (Reed College) audiences for those events, you rarely see the moldy Birkenstocks.

Speaking or Kaul Auditorium, I believe the Feb 12 iteration of this concert is the next classical performance on my agenda:

Portland Baroque Orchestra is incredibly good.

And though I don't loathe Monet like others in this house do, he sure has been oversold to the moneyed community hereabouts.

18. I don't loathe Monet.
I love his water lilies, the ones that add up to Cezanne's apples & pears, and Renoir's "Boat Party", and Chagall and Degas. Really. :D

5. Nothing better...
...than having a sunny, cool Sunday morning, opening the windows wide and playing the Brandenburg Concertos LOUD...

Heavenly music :)

14. Gotta play it loud.
And on a Sunday morning, the only neighbors of mine who would complain are in church.

8. What? Bizzarre!
Is the piano on the solo part, or are they doubling?

15. The deejay had misdescribed it before he played it.
It was piano only, and that was odd enough.

I'll get the listing tomorrow.

17. Woha Thanks for turning me on to this!
Believe it or not, classical music stations in the S.F. bay area SUCK!

Listening now and loving it.

I don't have a radio in my office, so I frequently stream it at work.

22. Another thanks!
This is great to know about! Our classical station used to be good, but now it has been turned into a commercial wasteland...you know who you are KING-FM.
