1. Be careful...They can be dangerous in adults...but I am sure you
know that. See a doctor if it gets really bad or a fever spikes. Feel better.

18. Did the doc give you an antiviral to take?
Poor Duckie!!!!

At age three had a mild case of chicken pox. Now, as an adult, when exposed to someone with it, I get shingles, another form of the same virus. Antivirals work really well. Hope you're not too uncomfortable. Hope you doc also has talked with you about the after-pain along the nerve trunks once you're past the blistering.

Here are a couple of articles that offer relief and other info:

and this one address adults:

2. That really sucks ass for you Duckie.
They say having them as an adult is the worst time, so be carefull. I hope you feel better soon!

Don't worry about being ugly. Yours will pass as the sickness passes, while some of us like me have ugliness as a chronic condition. :D

4. If you haven't been to a doctor, PLEASE see one.
I got 'em when I was 23. For good measure, I had strep throat and pneumonia at the same time. That was a truly lousy week and a half - "childhood" diseases can royally fuck up an adult. Also, don't scratch! The pock marks can become permanent if you do - happened to me. Again, please get treated if you haven't, and may your recovery be speedy. You'll be in my thoughts.

They're in my hair...and I scratched my head in my sleep. So my head is sore. Not to mention, I'm taking benedryl.

6. Awe, I hope you get to feeling better soon...
Take real good care of yourself. The adult onset of chicken pox is much harder than when children get it. I've seen adults hospitalized over it.

I really feel for you. I hope someone is there to help you out.

7. Naw...But I feel fine except for the itchy head...
Nothing else is itching, just my head...but I scratched it in my sleep. My own fault.

10. I got 'em when I was in my 20s. I was afraid I was going to die...
and at the same time, I was so miserable I almost hoped I would.

Benadryl and lots of good ol' calamine lotion helped me weather the storm. Hang in there. This too shall pass. And eventually you will feel better than ever, because you got through it and it wasn't easy.

11. Did the doc prescribe
acyclovir for you?

It helps lessen the severity and duration.

16. I got them for my 30th birthday-- was almost hospitalized
Have you seen a doctor yet? If not, PLEASE DO ASAP! Chicken pox can be fatal in adults.

Mine were all over my body, and in my ears and down my throat, too. I missed a month of work because of it. All I did was lie on a sheet all day naked, because it hurt to wear clothes. Very painful.
