Your friends here at DU have launched our new online literary magazine!
Those of us who visit the Writing Forum have lunched our first issue of our online literary magazine, The Necessary Language. You can visit it (and we hope you will) at www.thenecessarylanguage.com

We started this as a way for us unpublished and under-published writers to get a forum for our work. We also see it as a learning experience, so we do not edit pieces submitted.

The magazine will be quarterly, and if you’re interested in submitting to future issues, you can PM me (although I leave tomorrow for 3 weeks in Europe!) and I can give you more information. We ask that submissions be sent in plain text to necessarylanguage@yahoo.com

Currently we take fiction—short stories, short shorts, poetry, artwork and photos. In the future we may take non-fiction and essays if there’s a great interest in this.

In the meantime, have a look, and tell your friends. We want EVERYONE to read this!

Na shledanou!

(Note to Mods—this is being posted in a few forums so we can reach as many of our fellow DU’ers as possible—please don’t lock! Thanks!)

:loveya: :hi: :bounce:

10. My dear Buffy!
I thank you.....glad you like it!

Did you ever read my very short story in the Writer's Forum?

It seems I can write this sort of thing....who knew?

Two snaps with a twist......??? I know this is a compliment, and I thank you.....but I don't get the underlying meaning...

If this is a dumb question, feel free to PM me the answer! I thank you...

:loveya:

12. I've never been to the Writer's Forum
Though I should pop in there really. I enjoy reading non-professional stuff. I've written poetry myself, rather atrocious stuff really. It was sort of a therapeutic exercise and while cathartic, tended to be very dark and poor quality besides.

"Two snaps with a twist" comes from the defunct TV show In Living Color. They had an ongoing skit with two gay movie critics. They would announce they liked movies with ratings like "Two snaps in a circle", "Two snaps in a Z formation" and the like. If they didn't like a movie they simply proclaimed, "Hated It!".

24. LW list wanted, of LW novels and true biographies of those who have worked
all their lives to bring progressive ideas to reality, worldwide and in history as well.

Here, we hear nothing of the lives and exploits of .. eg.. england's "angry young men" of the late 'forties who nationalized over nine key industries afgter WWtwo.

Surely we could learn key arguments , which they crafted to win. Same issues we face today, and sadly we are having to reinvent the same arguments. We need better access to their phamphlets.
