What sounds make your skin crawl?
I can't stand the sound of styrofoam or cellophane. It REALLY bothers me.

1. Fingernails on rough paper
well, MY fingernails on rough paper. I know the sound has something to do with it, but the feel might be a part as well.

7. Rita Cosby's voice.
I lunge for the remote the minute her show comes on.

I also don't care much for the sound of crinkling aluminum foil, or the sound made by packing peanuts rubbing together (that styrofoamy sound), or clarinets, or most scrapy metallic noises.

8. Silverware scraping on dishes wrong...
That makes that 'screeee' sound and whoever does it jumps because they're startled and so the sound gets louder for a split second and then stops...along with every other noise at the table.

Just makes my teeth hurt.

Someone twisting styrofoam (like they do when they're trying to get something packed in it out) gives me the willies, too.

28. ANYONE biting down on/scraping ANY metal utensil while they eat.

If it is not too bad, I can suffer through it, but if it is really bad, I have to get up and leave. Actually sends chills down my spine. When I was a kid, I couldn't even stand to have metal utensils in my mouth. I REFUSED TO EAT unless the utensils were plastic.

12. the sound of lions waking in the early pre-dawn is a highly primordial...
sound that will make you stand in place, wide eyed for a moment or two until you may, hopefully, realize that the circus did come to town and you just hadn't been aware of it

:scared:

13. I forgot about lions.
Years ago I lived near a city zoo, and sometimes, early in the morning, we could hear them going "WHOOORRF! WHOOORRF!" It was weird.

But I still would rather hear lions than Rita Cosby. I might even prefer to be EATEN by lions than listen to Rita Cosby.

23. The sound of a cat hurking
A dog hurking is pretty bad too, but if you're licky, the othe dog will clean it up before you get a chance to.

24. And of course the first thought that comes when you hear that...
Okay, where is he/she doing that? Carpet? Bed? My new jacket?

But it's better then when you don't hear it... First thing the morning, getting out of bed, walking to the kitchen barefoot and then *squish* between the toes.

Makes you think maybe the sound isn't so bad.
