1. No place is perfect.

I'd rather keep a watchful eye out for gaters than risk freezing my bippies off in New York!

5. I really like being down there during mild hurricanes.

Did you know that they are building hurricane proof homes in the Keys.
I want to win the lottery and buy one. Yep! I'll take hurricanes, gaters, coral snakes and barracudas over ice storms, generators and wood burning stoves.

19. My car ate a deer two years ago.
:( I never saw the deer. It ran into the side of my car (I was going about 50 mph) and exploded the drivers side windows into the car and all over me.)
:scared: I didn't realize it was a deer until I was able to stop and get out of the car and see the huge hunk of fur and hide stuck in what remained of the back passenger side window frame.

4. Lived in South Florida most of my life.
I finally wised up and moved to North Georgia. I hate Florida and its heat, humidity, bugs, crime and people who refuse to speak anything but Spanish.

Not far from Savannah, near the Georgia coast.

10. I thought he looked a little small for a Florida gator....
Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 09:50 AM by Lochloosa
The largest alligator ever recorded in Florida was 17 feet 5 inches long (5.3 meters).

13. Hee hee!
Maybe he's a Florida gator that got lost. Damn illegal immigrant gators, trying to sneak into Georgia... :+

BTW, Fish & Wildlife estimated this guy at 12-13 feet long. Yikes!

18. Not sure how accurate it is, but...
I think Carl Hiassen wrote about Florida as it being a hotbed of corruption regardless of who is in the governor's office.

21. I almost moved down there back in '94.

I had a plane ticket, job interviews and ALL of my bags were packed. I had everything I owned in storage ready to be shipped to a new apartment. Then an 18 pound box fell into the back of my neck delaying my southward migration.
Sometimes ~ life is just like that ~>

17. Wow! That is going to be one very contented (and full) gator.
That's one way to control the deer population. We have to depend om hunters and cars here in NE GA. We have at least one local bear who migrated from the mountains but I don't think he can conmtrol all of the deer by himself. There are no more wolves around these parts.

20. Still, one alligator is better than...
The box jellyfish, funnel spider & the inland & coastal taipan snakes in Australia... it seems that Australia is the place where the world's most poisonous animals congregate.

The box jellyfish supposedly has killed more than sharks, stone fish & alligators combined.

Venom

You have virtually no chance of surviving the venomous sting, unless treated immediately. The pain is so excruciating and overwhelming that you would most likely go into shock and drown before reaching the shore. So don't go swimming alone! Be sure to know the first aid procedures.
