1. A blues tribute to the Stones
An interesting twist: Blues musicians doing their versions of rock songs instead of the other way around. Found it in a used record store today and am listening to it now for the first time.

21. yes, it is...I like it but, I can see where not everyone
would relate to all the songs...and although the "i'm not ready to make nice " song is getting all the airplay ....I think this one is my favorite:

"I Hope"

Sunday morning, I heard the preacher say
Thou shall not kill
I don't wanna hear nothing else about killing
And that it's God's will

'Cause our children are watching us
They put their trust in us
They're gonna be like us
So let's learn from our history
And do it differently

I hope, for more love, more joy and laughter
I hope, we'll have more than we'll ever need
I hope, we'll have more happy ever after
I hope, we can all live more fearlessly
And we can lose all the pain and misery
I hope, I hope

Oh, Rosie, her man he gets too rough
That's all she can say, is he's a good man
He don't mean no harm
He was just brought up that way

But our children are watching us
They put their trust in us
They're gonna be like us
It's okay for us to disagree
We can work it out lovingly

I hope, for more love, more joy and laughter
I hope, we'll have more than we'll ever need
I hope, we'll have more happy ever after
I hope, we can all live more fearlessly
And we can lose all the pain and misery
I hope, I hope

There must be a way to change what's going on
No I don't have all the answers

I hope, for more love, more joy and laughter
I hope, we'll have more than we'll ever need
I hope, we'll have more happy ever after
I hope, we can all live more fearlessly
And we can lose all the pain and misery
I hope, I hope

I hope, I hope, I hope

Also, I got, at long last, a great deal on a 2-disc set of Maurice Andre's performances of Baroque trumpet pieces. You can't help but feel happy when you're listening to Maurice Andre!

69. She cautiously agrees, my newest CD is Dixie Chick’s TtLW …
Already have their other CD’s and admire them as musical artists, Liberals, and independent women who use their voice for good.

Next newest is Enter the Haggis, Casualties of Retail, mainly for ‘Gasoline’:
…back then the earth was green
dirt was black and the air/water was clean
and then upon the scene
cars and trucks and gasoline
inside i’m petrified
i don’t want to hide/watch it anymore

black or white/left or right or in between
i'm never really sure which way i lean
hey mister what does it mean he said
cars and trucks need gasoline

mutley would like it .

15. You must mean "One All"
It's a great CD. My favorite tracks are "Into the Sunset" and "Rest of the Day Off". Crow appears on "Turn and Run" and "Driving Me Mad". Their association goes back a long way. She opened for Crowded House when her first CD was just becoming huge, and her song "Everyday is a Winding Road" (which Neil sings backup on) is said to be about Crowded House drummer Paul Hester, who killed himself last year.

Aren't you glad you asked?

34. That's it! I remember when Sheryl Crow opened for
Crowded House. A good friend of mine is a huge Crowded House fan and he went to see them one night. He asked me if I had ever heard of Sheryl Crow. Her cd was about to take off and I had heard a few of her songs on one of our local stations.

I did not realize that "Everyday is A Winding Road" is about Paul Hester. Paul is on my daughter's "Wiggles" DVD and everytime I see him I get sad.

PS: I love that song, "Driving Me Mad". I can't wait to hear it!!

18. Roddy Frame - Western Skies
Roddy was the leader of the band Aztec Camera back in the 80's. He's actually one of the finest guitar players you've never heard. He's also a top-notch songwriter.

This CD, unfortunately, is not one of his best, but I have a feeling it will grow on me.

I also just got Snow Patrol's "Hands Open", which I like.
