At what age must I stop playing air guitar?
I realize I should have stopped when I was no longer a teenager. I'm pushing 40 now, and yes...I still play the air guitar when I hear a rockin' good tune (when my wife isn't around to mock me). Childish and immature? Yes.

Must I now cease and desist, and succumb to being a fuddy duddy adult?

Are there any other closet-air-guitarists out there? If so, what are your favorite air guitar tunes?

Do you play the air sitar? CMW does. It could be one more thing that two of my favorite men have in common. :loveya:

CMW plays the air alphorn. It's not as impressive as air guitar, though.

17. I only do it in private but I'd argue that it's a wholesome activity.
We can't all be Eddie Van Halen, so why not fake a riff every now and then? Perhaps we'd all have better mental health if we'd just get over our air guitar guilt and let our inner rock star out.

As you know, there's a lot of good material out there for air guitarists but I say AC/DC's "Back In Black" will lend you mega credibility among connoisseurs - if you can convincingly mime the fingering. :toast:

19. In high school English I gave a speech on how to play the air

I think it would be a shame to retire and let those air skills deteriorate.

I play some mean air drums, as well.

Edited on Sat Jun-24-06 03:34 AM by Heidi
It's an emerging market of 7 million Swiss people, just waiting to be tapped. And as a resident of this nation, I can tell you that there are many, many of us who would be only too pleased if the alphorn enthusiasts would be so kind as to take up _air_ alphorn.

34. Never never never ....
although you might have to hide it from your children (if you have any) around the time that they hit their teenage years :D

But, only temporarily.... after they pass the "oh my god, I have a weird parent" stage, they'll start praising your glories to their friends and will once again love you for your air guitar prowess and you can then come back out of the temporary closet.

It's a teen thing.

and my experience with a teenaged daughter says that yes, your girls will adore you to bits for many, many years to come with only a brief little interlude of teenage "omg" angst which is, I believe, required by law ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ so no worries!
