2. Sounds like my kind of hours
Edited on Mon Jun-26-06 01:06 AM by Nicole
I would love that. I'm a night owl so 2 extra hours of daylight would be good for me.

Enjoy!

3. I lived in northern Alberta for a time
Right now, it would be twilight (midnight), but never fully dark. Then, 3:30am, sun pops up!

Wonderful in the summer, not so great in the winter - 9am sunup, 3:30pm sundown. Bankers hours. x(

6. That sounds amazing to me
since I've never been that far north.

I agree that it would not be so great in winter.

:bounce: :loveya:

Yep, it's looking good! Hopefully by the time I'll be moving (not this week, but next) it'll have settled down a bit. 20-22 would be perfect. 20-22 - with NO rain - I may add. :-)

How have you been? Where have you been - any road trips yet?

We're going to go back down to the Badlands next month to camp; I really want to try to get up to High Level and camp too. If I can find the time :)

13. I'm still looking
hopefully I'll be out by the end of the month, maybe 10 days at most.

Looking at downtown, Strathcona, Allendale/McKernan area - though I might have to go to Bonnie Doon. :scared:

It's price that I'm most concerned about, since I'm on a very small fixed income.

Please take pics of the Badlands and post them!!

I miss southern Alberta's landscape. When I lived in Lethbridge, I used to walk the coulees every day, then down by the river. Beautiful walks.

You lucky girl!

How sweet is that?

I love love love the long days.....they can never be long enough for me!

Although, I must say, the long winter nights would really depress the heck out of me.....

Enjoy your summer, sweetie!

17. Hi Peggy!
These long days sure are a treat. As our seasons up north here are shorter, the sun is more intense, out longer, and the growing season gets packed into a short period of time.

Those winter nights...well, let's just say it all depends who you spend them with...

Thank you, I will enjoy mine, and I wish you the same. And please do post more pics!!! :D

it was 28 or 29 today. Just beautiful.

I'm going to have to go down to the river valley and take some pics. Thanks to Eddie and the gang, we have a lovely, lush forested area around the river. Everything's so green, the sky's so blue, the clouds are so white and the sun's so bright...:D

31. I think it's a word that cowboys use...
...and therefore is transnational. I recall an old Sons of the Pioneer song where the cowboys are singin' about how the dogies "feed in the coulee and water in the draw." So apparently dogies like to walk the coulees, too.

33. Here are the coulees I walked:

As you can see, they follow the river...give a lovely panoramic view of it. They don't tend to be very green, though...not a lot of rain in the area. My apartment backed onto them. They're wonderful walking hills, though not as easy as they may look.

28. Sounds really nice
Here in San Diego the sun comes up about 5:40 AM and sets at 8:00 PM. It is pretty well dark by 9:00. The longest days just don't seem quite long enough here, even compared to Chicago where I used to live.

However the shortest days in December are a tolerable 10 hours in length; the sun rises a little before 7 and sets a little before 5. Not quite as bad as further north.

34. Hi MikeH
I'm very surprised at how early the sun sets in the winter in San Diego. Ten hours of daylight sounds wonderful when the cold hits! In all fairness, however, it usually is very bright here during the winter. In fact, the colder it is, the sunnier it tends to be. :hi:

40. I'm not really so bothered with the rain
and actually, we have had far too little of it over the last 12 months. We have a drought on in the south-east.

The weather I find most offensive is wind. Being an island, we get a fair measure of that too.

41. A drought? Really?
The pictures of the city I posted above is one of the windiest cities in Canada, so I understand about the wind. It has a certain warming wind called a Chinook that comes in the winter, and changes the weather dramatically; I remember one instance of it being -37 one night, and +4 by noon the next day. Ugh. (during those the wind gusts 80-90km/hr and there's this looming cloud that doesn't move...creepy)

The heat is the worst for me; I wilt in anything over 25-27c. I have so much I should be doing now, but it's just too hot out. Drastic changes in temperature is another I can't deal with, which happens here quite a bit. One May ('05?'04?) it got to the 30's, and then cold enough within a few days for it to snow. x(

42. You have crazy-ass weather
All four seasons in a few days?

I don't cope well in hot weather either. Up to 25 is great, above that and it starts getting a bit much. British homes never have AC either, because most of the time it would be unnecessary. Thank heaven the office does, at least.

Right now it's cool again. yvr says it is hot in Vancouver at the moment.

43. No A/C here, either
except malls and theatres, and you have to bring your parka for them. 30 outside, -10 inside. :wtf:

She has a beach! The only thing remotely beach-y around here had a gigantic oil spill last year after a train derailed; even before the water was dodgy to begin with (because of industry) .

I'll have to be content running through the sprinkler - it's 31c at present. :D
