A most excellent but nontraditional meal in the French Quarter Yesterday
My wife and I would like to dine in every restaurant in and around the French Quarter. We expect it will take about a 180 years. Yesterday we passed on traditional Seafood or Cajun Cuisine and ate at Fiorella's on Decatur Street. I had Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy and Corn. Very, very good. My wife had Eggplant Parmesan on Spaghetti. Delicious. We saw no signs of State Police or National Guard and the local bartenders reported that the librarians in town for a convention had not done much damage with their wild after convention hours partying. They'll be in town till Wednesday and their trip to New Orleans is greatly appreciated.
1. I'm glad to hear you and your wife felt safe and were able to
enjoy your meal.
I don't know what to make of the National Guard being called in, part of me says its political and preemptive. They will have the guard on hand to help with clean up, help with levies and help if another storm is in the area.
Some think it will make conventioneers feel safer, others say the presence will scare them off. The Quarter was quite peaceful yesterday and there was a pretty good size crowd I'm happy to say. We were there from 9:00 AM and left about 3:30. If you like Fried Chicken, you might check out Fiorella's. They have a nice menu and very reasonable prices.
