I just heard on ABC news that Lucianno Pavarotti is in a US
hospital after surgery to combat his pancreatic cancer. Hope he recovers. What a voice.

2. Oh, I hope he recovers!
He has the most amazing voice......

I was lucky enough to hear him sing live once, many years ago, when he was just getting famous.....

And even though my husband and I are not really crazy about opera, we just loved hearing him sing!

Please god, not yet....don't take him yet!

4. We saw him at the Metropolitan Opera House many years ago.
A voice that will send chills through you. I love listening to him along with Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo. Beautiful, beautiful voices.

6. Pancreatic cancer
has a horrible survival rate. Something like 95% die within 6 months. :-(

I wish him all the best.

7. It sure does. And he received his dx two years ago.
It's a miracle he's still alive.

8. There are two types
endogenous and exogenous.

One is always fatal, there is some hope with the other one (I can't remember which is which, but the one that's possibly treatable with surgery can often mimic diabetes).

There was a multi millionaire in the UK who lasted 10 months, but good for Pavarotti if he's still kicking after 2. I just hope he's not in pain, the pain is horrendous with it.

11. I didn't know that.
I don't think I ever heard of or knew anyone who was a survivor of pancreatic cancer. Usually when you hear the dx, you just sort of nod your head in sadness.

13. Sorry, I should clarify
when I wrote treatable - I really should have written 'that could prolong life'.

I've heard of the rare instance, but that's usually associated with testimonials for the Gerson therapy, and I'm not entirely trustful of those.

12. Not a big fan, but I hope he recovers soon.
Hats off to his talent, but Italian tenors have never been my thing. Can I profess an admiration for German Heldentenors without being called a Nazi? B-)

14. My grandmother died of pancreatic cancer; my son-in-law's aunt
died of it recently after undergoing the Whipple procedure, which I understand has a low survival rate.

My ex-husband, also 70, had his diagnosis of lung and bladder cancer in March. He was given 4 - 6 months with those two uncontrollable cancers.

Life is brief, and then you die. Rich or poor, important or unimportant. It's quite simple.

17. My mother died from it
I'm sorry about your relatives.

It's one of those horrible diseases where being rich doesn't = cure, or even better care.
