3. Mission of Burma are amazing.
I highly recommend both that new album and their older stuff. "Signals, Calls and Marches" is one of the best post-punk releases ever, in my opinion.

21. Rewhipped ....
Is that good? I was going to buy it on Amazon but so many of the reviews were ripping on it saying it was THE SUCK compared to the original. I didn't buy it because of that. I see they now have 2 versions - Rewhipped and the 40th Anniv. Edition.

Which one would you guys go with?

25. I enjoyed it. Your mileage may vary.
Though I imagine if that many people thought it was a suck album, you could probably find a used copy pretty easily and save yoursself a few bucks. I looked at some of the reviews, and some of the negatives seemed to be trashing hip-hop in general rather than this record in particular. If you're not into the hip-hop remix thing, yeah, definitely avoid.

The 40th anniversary thing is a re-master, which means it's basically the old album sonically cleaned up with the equipment that's available today. On the Re-Whipped album, Alpert and some other producers made some pretty radical changes to the songs themselves.

Followed by Plans by Death Cab for Cutie

That Belle and Sebastian CD got a bit tiring after a couple of listens.

Though I agree that the Raconteurs' CD is very good. I left off a couple so that my list doesn't get too long before pruning.

The album is being released next month, but, I've had a sneak peek, and man is it on the list.

Do CD samplers count? Because the one Team AV released with volta do mar on it was great.

Due out August 22 called "Amputechture", and it's been leaked already, so I downloaded that, and it now tops my list for the year.

20. So far:
Haven't bought that many new albums this year, so this is a fairly short list:

The Knife - Silent Shout

Barry Adamson - Stranger on the Sofa

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones

The Streets - The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living

Gnarls Barkley - St Elsewhere

And American V will probably make this list, once I've heard all of it.

23. It seems to've slipped under the media radar on this side of the pond...
I didn't know about it myself till last month. (Probably not getting the exposure his last album got because there's no radio-friendly ballad with guest vocals by whatsisname from Coldplay...)

28. Ok, I'll add a few more
But no more than 30, as I have to reduce it later. Some albums always end up virtually tied, and many others are quite close - but I make myself pick 20 at the end of the year. I'm sure my list will change: Nina Gordon, Indigo Girls, Lisa Germano, and Tom Petty have albums coming out later, among others. And I haven't yet heard a couple albums that I purchased from Ane Brun and Ingrid Michaelson.

Here are my other choices:

Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers
Sonya Kitchell - Words Came Back To Me
Mary Lee's Corvette - Love, Loss & Lunacy
