3. He had the perfect voice for that type of show - cynical and world-weary.
I could watch "City Confidential" all day just to hear him narrate the episodes!

4. I agree wholeheartedly..he could sound either smarmy or haughty;
depending upon what the story called for.

5. His voice was indeed great, but it was the puns...the horrible,
wonderful puns, that made the show.

ESPECIALLY when the puns were followed by trademark pronunciation of "muuuurrrder". :D

6. I miss Paul Winfield.
His voice was great for that show. I was so sad when I heard he had passed away.

7. i always enjoyed his work and City was my favorite, loved the snark
i always pictured him getting the script about some well heeled fancy pants community that ends up having a a really embarrassing scandal and him laughing his ass off.

9. Mine too, but I also loved him in that episode on Star Trek: TNG
Where he and Capt. Picard were stranded on that planet together. One of my favorite episodes, mostly because of Winfield.

But I do still like that show. It's just not the same without him.

10. I always think of him in that Star Trek episode "Darmok"....
...what a beautiful episode that one was. Another role I always think of him in was the movie "Green Eyes", back in the 70's. He was a Vietnam Vet going back to 'Nam, to find a child he had fathered.

13. Glad to know I'm not the only one who misses The Win.
Sigh. And with his passing, they've messed up my favorite thing about "CC"--the perfect pacing of the episodes. As someone who must see excellent to perfect pacing in order to enjoy a television series or film--ACK. The loss affected me so much I have hardly watched any episodes from the post-Winfield run.

15. Yeah it was better with Winfield
Always liked that show though because you can get the history of a city or region and get a good crime story to boot.
