My dogs are tick magnets- I am always picking them off their coats. On the other hand the cats have NEVER had a tick on their coat nor have any ever dug in. Is it because the cats are better groomers or the ticks don't like cat blood?

1. not for sure...but, I always thought it was a combination of
the grooming and the thickness of the fur:shrug:

2. my cat is 14 years old
and he has had two ticks in his entire life, both times they were just under his chin. I think it's the cat's penchant for festidious grooming, that if there is a tick, they get them before they can burrow.
My guy is such a freak that he doesn't even wear a flea/tick collar and he has never had fleas either even though he goes outside. I tried a collar once and he freaked out over it, practically scratching his neck raw just to get it off. The vet can't believe how clean and how sweet he is.
