1. sorry
but I loved the shit out of that song Good Vibrations. I worked some calories off to that, lol.

The backup singer in that sings her lungs out, she's an established name but it slips my mind right now

Yo, it's about that time:

3. I also dig bluegrass and ska
Edited on Thu Aug-24-06 11:33 PM by idgiehkt
if it's good I like it.

It's driving me freaking INSANE that I can't find the name of the woman who sang back-up on this song. Her voice on this still gives me chills when I listen to it...I know she had a career but I don't know if it was disco or soul or what. I don't know how to find stuff like this on the internet but there has to be a way...

edit: I also thought Mark Walhberg was the shit in "Rock Star". I thought that movie was fantastic, and it really attempted to explain the transition from heavy metal to grunge in the late 80's to early 90's and their explanation makes as much sense to me as anything else. Also, the scene where the lead singer of the band ends up being gay and walks out of the band is absolutely hysterical.

Name me some bands that you like. You must check out the Earl brothers if you like true bluegrass.

10. Right now I really am liking
Rhonda Vincent. I love her song "If you don't love your neighbor then you don't love God". It really speaks to stuff like racism and homophobia. Of course I like Flatt and Scruggs. I mostly liked to go to music festivals and hear local bands when I was living in the mountains, I haven't done that in several years.

Here is Rhonda Vincent's video for Heartbreaker's Alibi:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIUU1zDW68g

Dolly sings back up in this. I have seen a couple of their (R.V. and the Rage) concerts on PBS and she is the shit. She is what I wished Alison Krauss and Union Station always were, instead of being so boring. I can't wait til I get the chance to see Rhonda live, I think her celebrity is going to grow exponentially.

12. It's okay. I used to have a Marky Mark poster from some teen mag
hanging in my room.

He did turn into a good actor though.

4. Ta Dah! Loleatta Holloway
gotta give credit where credit is due:

Loleatta Holloway (born November 5, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American singer known for classic disco songs such as "Dreamin'" and "Love Sensation" (the latter which has been sampled greatly). She began gospel singing with her mother in the Holloway Community Singers and she has also recorded with Albertina Walker in the Caravans gospel group. Holloway was also a cast member of the Chicago troupe of Don't Bother Me I Can't Cope.

Holloway found moderate disco success where she placed eighteen songs on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts, including four #1s, and was featured on Dan Hartman's disco classic "Vertigo/Relight My Fire". In the early 80s, she had another dance classic with "Crash Goes Love" before she hit her first #1 in the UK with the all-time classic "Ride On Time" by Black Box which featured vocal samples from 'Love Sensation'. This happened again in 1991 when Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch featured her vocals in the #1 song "Good Vibrations".

She made that song. Her vocals on that are so good it's painful...

13. Rock Star was a GREAT movie, and I really do mean great.. in the sense if
really captured a brief snippet of the world of rock n roll. Slightly dramatized, but dang, I knew that road manager, and I knew that producer and I knew the guitar player and the lead singer... I knew the rock stars, the kids who coulda been, who shoulda been.

Wahlberg nailed it.

And you GOTTA love Entourage. Best series on teevee.

I remember your 'list of amazing things' that you have done in your life; so it's nice to know that someone with actual cred in that industry appreciates that this movie was a good telling of a little rock history.

they're not giving the best reviews to his new movie though.

which is a drag -- cause he's quite the good actor.

great movie --

he's a really good actor -- and does stuff that other guys with his ''star'' power won't.

which just makes him all the more interesting in my book.

With Clooney on the set of "The Perfect Storm"

We should try to get this up to 100 replies, get it put on the greatest page, lol...I'm voting for it!

that'll teach Aquaman to mess with The Funky Bunch, lol

20. vote for it
let's get this on the greatest page.

I remember watching Clooney on "The Facts of Life" and "Roseanne". I saw an interview with Roseanne Barr a few weeks ago where she was talking about how she really fought the producers of her show to keep Clooney on there, that she good see he was gonna be a huge star and stuff but they wouldn't listen to her. And the rest is history...

That Mark Wahlberg's a damn fine actor and that screwy stunt could have aborted his career.

32. here's some Loleatta Holloway

2006 remix of her disco hit Love Sensation. Apparently they are still afraid to put singers like her in video, just like with C&C music factory, and they used these model/dancers to lip sync

31. Umm.." You Gotta Believe" has the fattest bass line.
I think the song itself rocks; it's just too bad the lyrics are crap and they are the ones singing them. I keep waiting for someone to steal it to make another song. It's bad-assed sounding, at least.
