1. Ya know, I seriously wonder about the reporting.....

I keep hearing on the news about how widespread it is here in Texas, but (in the Houston are), I don't know a single person who has it, including any of my friends and coworkers. I know some people who have had run of the mill respiratory colds, but not the flu. A couple months ago, I heard we got hit hard early, and a fewschools closed down for a day or two, But I haven't heard anything (from actual people) since then... only the news.

sick people out there right now. Definately not media hype.

Actually, the day I started coming down with it was about 3 or 4 days before it was on the news. I hope you stay healthy; I think it's pretty much passed us by now.

3. I think it's the media and the drug companies

since 9-11, it's pretty easy to push everyone's panic button. When they mention deaths from influenza, they don't mention that the majority of the victims had compromised immune systems to begin with. The drug companies get rich from the panic-lines are out the door for the flu shot.

I think it may be worse than last year but it also may be a conspiracy.

7. Most of the time, I would be with you. This time is different

there was a high-level decision made NOT to include the virus that is causing all the trouble this year.
That smacks of Rumsfeld, who was made the scape goat of the Ford Admin for pushing the Swine Flu vaccine and no Swine Flu appeared that year.
The CDC speciried fujian to be included in the shots this year. The drug companies said it was "too difficult" (read costs too much) to incubate and got the CDC overuled "somewhere in the Executive Branch."
Somewhere like the ex-CEO of A.G. Serle, a veteran of panic-stricken epidemiologists in 1976, and the current SECDEF, the master of darkness himself, Donald Rumsfeld?
