I was in a bookstore and I skimmed a few pages from his new book, which is intended (I think) to "prove" that "western" civilization is superior to any other.

Murray came up with a method for ranking cultural achievements via quantification (statistics).

For example, a writer like Shakespeare is ranked very high because Murray's research shows that more people have praised Shakespeare in print then more (or any) other writer.

This is astonishing naivety or more appropriately, ignorance. What it amounts to is an admission that Murray has no idea what cultural achievement is, in western or any other culture.

Anyone who would resort to such idiotic criteria in order to justify a conclusion is consumed by an agenda, which in his case is racism.
