Poll question: Are you subject to random drug tests at work?
I was just informed that I will be subject to random drug tests after 15 years on the job. My job does not involve operating ANY motorized vehicle. The new requirement does not apply to everybody in the corporation, only floor supervisors and technicians.
I don't think I will comply if asked for a sample. They can fire me if they wish but it is a matter of principle.

The poll- are you subject to random drug tests at work?

1. No
I've never been subjected to a drug test at any place that I've worked at.

8. What kind of work do you do?
Be general of course. I work on a factory floor in a staff position. My job does not put anybody at risk though. I fine tune the equipment and change the machines to produce different sizes of product (tires).

However, it's a secure facility.

11. Never can be too safe, huh?
You might accidently drop a statistic on somebodies foot or something. I know I always feel uncomfortable when a statistic is being tossed around.

13. Perhaps. I'm not thrilled with it
It likely has more to do with government contracting than anything else.

3. I can't vote. I need an "other."
They do drug tests only with probable cause -- someone showing up red-eyed and slurring their words, no fine motor coordination, etc.

5. If they want to test me for random drugs, let them.
The only thing I'm on is prozac. :spray:

7. Only if we give them a reason to think we need one.
At least that's how it was told to me. In other words -- come to work sober and you're fine.

12. Theoretically, yes.
But I've never heard of anyone being tested, nor do you have to pass one to be hired.
