I *heart* my geek.....
Edited on Wed Sep-20-06 09:27 PM by LynzM
:loveya: He is, at the moment, drinking a beer, and learning to program an LED control in assembly. Love it.

What are you appreciating lately?

Edited to put the pic in up here, too :)

1. This thread is useless without photos
:)

I appreciate my daughter Lelapin. And my network of friends, 3D and in the virtual world of DU.

8. Hrm....
Since he's on the computer to which we download pics, that might get interesting... but I'll try. :)

Yay for your daughter, and for friends of all sorts!

19. Real Programmers Don't Use Pascal
This is still one of my favorite satires.

The easiest way to tell a Real Programmer from the crowd is by the programming language he (or she) uses. Real Programmers use Fortran. Quiche Eaters use Pascal. Nicklaus Wirth, the designer of Pascal, gave a talk once at which he was asked, "How do you pronounce your name?". He replied, "You can either call me by name, pronouncing it 'Veert', or call me by value, 'Worth'." One can tell immediately by this comment that Nicklaus Wirth is a Quiche Eater. The only parameter passing mechanism endorsed by Real Programmers is call-by-value-return, as implemented in the IBM/370 Fortran G and H compilers. Real Programmers don't need all these abstract concepts to get their jobs done-- they are perfectly happy with a keypunch, a Fortran IV compiler, and a beer.

my favorite language.

18. It's really only cold at the end of Nov.
and for the playoffs in December.
If it's really cold, I go in the press box but other than that I am on the sidelines! :bounce:

24. You've probably got a different take on 'cold' than I do
I used to stay in the press box a lot, but the problem then is most high school stadia are so poorly lighted, you can't see what the line of scrimmage is if they're inside the 20.

One game, a day game (no lights), it was raining and they wouldn't let me in the press box, which was small and filled with coaches, plus the PA and scoreboard guys. I nearly caught pneumonia and could barely read my stats because the paper was wet. x(

say that Winter was my favorite season. :) --- I'm enjoying the scenery, visiting out-of-the-way areas that I've missed in the past.

27. No worries about the b-day
It was a small, last-minute deal :) The winter party, on the other hand, will be a big-ish, planned-well-ahead type affair, to which you guys are definitely invited! :)

Glad you escaped working toooo long on your birthday. I think companies should give your birthday, or next closest work day, off!
