Hey - parents of kids going off to college for the first time
How are you holding up? My first born left a tiny town in Maine for the big city, Boston, and she is just loving it! How are the rest of you holding up? I cry a lot because I miss her so much, but I am so relieved that she is loving Boston and her school so much.

2. Mine's in Boston, also
She loves it. She's at Northeastern. I'm mostly just happy for her and excited about moving my own life forward. I miss her but I know she's happy there.

3. My Julie is just down the street at Emmanuel
What a great college town! It's so open and so much to do, but from what I hear so safe.

8. No city is completely safe, but I did feel
safer there when I was walking around at night than I have in other cities. Still, they have to learn to take precautions.

Mine has already hit some multi-college fairs and gone to other campuses. I love Boston.

5. We had three leave this fall.
One is in Pittsburgh, and two are 1.5 hours away. The two that are 1.5 hours away have both already come home for a weekend. The youngest one, still at home, is making up for his siblings absence by taking over their rooms.

6. My son just started his sophomore year in college - 9 hours away
It's still hard to get used to him being gone, but he's so happy there and doing so well, you just have to be happy for him

9. Good point. He is involved in a hydrogen storage research project
that will probably get him published (as an undergrad!) This all has to do with non-petrolium energy, which he is very excited about.

There is something very cool about your child realizing he might have a shot at really making a difference.

Sorry for bragging, but I am soooooo proud of him

But honestly, I don't know what they do all day now that I'm not around to keep them entertained!
