I have decided to do a 50k race in March
I am announcing it here so that I will be shamed if I back out.

THis may be my mid-life crisis. A half marathon is the longest I've ever run before.

I am hoping for a broken leg or a case of the flu come mid-March...

1. Holy cow! That is a MAJOR undertaking!
But a major achievement if you can do it!
Can we pester you with 'Soooo hows the training going?' as motivation??

2. Your goal is to be admired
I think that's wonderful and I know you can do it. It makes me want to get back into long distance running, which I haven't done in four years. Inspiring.

Good luck.

5. Why is 50 kilometers (31 miles) a 'half-marathon'
when the Olympic marathon is 26 miles, 385 yards?

But, I anally retain. Go get 'em.

Or, to quote the much missed and quite awesome Pre: "A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts... If I lose forcing the pace all the way, well, at least I can live with myself."

It might be inspiring and/or helpful to others who want to get back into the game.

"Why are you posting, don't you have to run?"

40. Cool
I did the Rachel Carson Trail Challenge this summer, it isn't a race per se but just see if you can finish. It was 34 miles and one of the most brutal things i have ever done in my life. I only hiked it, and the blisters where very painful (and the loss of a toe nail that is now growing back.. <:P> ) Anyhow Good luck, starting now will sure make it a lot easier when the time comes...
