Going back to dialup after DSL is like...

After 4 years of ultra-fast DSL, an outage forced me back to dialup for 3 days.

It was like making love to Raquel Welch for 1460 nights and then waking up on a desert island with Janet Reno.

It was like dining on filet mignon & lobster, then washing it down with Night Train.

For those of you who've experienced this shock, it was like....?

But I know what you mean. When I went broke, I couldn't afford to replace my dead DSL modem, so back to dial-up I went. It sucks.

One piece of advice: Ditch MSIE in favor of NetCaptor, a browser that runs off the MSIE engine (so you have to keep MSIE installed) -- but works SO fast, it almost feels like I'm on DSL again. (Uses a lot less RAM too, and doesn't crash every five seconds.)

Seriously, give it a try.

I actually nodded off to sleep waiting for a big webpage to load while in that 3-day dialup hell the other night.

and when I use dial-up at my parents house, I can't even bear it..I wonder why I even paid for it for so many years, it almost wasn't worth it.

Anyway, if high-speed internet is like eating a steak, dial-up is like throwing it back up.
