Since I'm a meat-eater, I can have meals with veggies and meat or just veggies if I please. Hanging around vegetarians lets me have a bit of variety I wouldn't otherwise have.

Now dating vegetarians is another matter. I know this sounds shallow and lazy, but I don't like having to make two separate meals on a regular basis.

Both because most of the vegetarians I've talked to lately seem to be wanting to work in the direction of veganism (even if they can't really see themselves going vegan, reducing animal products seems to be a big draw for health and ethical reasons) and becase even health concious omnis are eating a lot less dairy. It seems like the idea that cows' milk is really bad for humans is finally setting in.

FWIW, I was at a big veg*n event a few weeks ago, and the dinner was a great big peice of polenta with a cilantro pesto baked into the top, on a huge bed of greens. (There was also a meal for the raw food people, but I wasn't sitting near any and don't know what it was.) The line to get it was 20 minutes long, and I certainly didn't hear anybody complaining about the meal. Everybody at my table finished thiers.

Something I accidentally did once: one of my students was a total and devout vegetarian, and I didn't know. I was chomping on pork rinds one day, and asked her if she wanted some, thrusting my bag of friend animal into her face. I felt REALLY bad about it.
