Take for example, my cousin Toni is a lesbian. I thought we've all known since she came out to me at my dad's funeral (almost 4 years ago). Fast forward to family BBQ this summer...

Mom: Oh, partners. That's nice. (obviously she's thinking tennis partners)

(kid goes running by)

Then, later at home...

Other things are more funny in hindsight. Picture me at around 17, sitting on my bed, reading a book. Mom comes into room freaking out (common, since she's a total nut). This was back in her homophobic, I'm going to straight to hell, destroying the family, and ruining everyone's life phase.

Mom: Have you ever kissed a girl?

(I look up perplexed, thinking both, "err...yeah, dumbass" and "what the fuck brought this on?")

Mom: You have! Haven't you?!

(Mom storms out of room in a massive tizzy. I return to reading my book.)
